Sierra Espuña territory is not only famous for its nature, but also for its rich historic heritage which bears witness to civilisations that, up to now, have occupied the area sheltered by this Nature Park. Fortified towers, castles, wall remains, archaeological sites, noble homes and palaces mirror the history marked by constructions of great value, quality and historical interest.

Some of these emblematic monuments, towers, castles and archaeological sites have been declared as BIC -Bien de Interés Cultural (which is a category of the heritage register in Spain translated as `Good of Cultural interest´) or even as World Heritage Site (UNESCO).
