For thousands of years, the human-earth relationship has been an essential symbiosis for the survival of mankind, thanks to nature which has been reshaping its landscape due to the use of the resources by humans. There are numerous vestiges placing the first hominids in Sierra Espu\u00f1a thousands of years ago, around the Palaeolithic, as this place would provide them with shelter and caves, as well as warm temperatures and food resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the middle Neolithic and Eneolithic (2,000-3,000 years B.C.) the development of agriculture and livestock enabled Guadalent\u00edn, Mula and Pliego valleys to count on human settlements. The arrival of muslims originated many of such settlements that have been preserved till now. This way, relevant ones like Pliego arose.
